Gospel and spirituals concert by Rusty in the parish church of Mariapfarr: 8,550,-- Euro for the Children’s cancer charity of Salzburg

On 12 December 2009, Rusty performed an excellent gospel and spirituals concert in the sold-out parish church of Mariapfarr in Lungau. Over 1,200 people visited the concert. Rusty donated his entire salary, and the conert’s turnover of 8,550 Euro was donated to the children’s cancer charity of Salzburg.  During the concert, Rusty performed several songs which showed the deeply religious side of Elvis Presley. The audience acknowledeg songs as “How Great Thou Art”, “He Touched Me”, “Somebody Bigger Than You And I”, “Amazing Grace”, and many more with standing ovations.

Not only Elvis’ music, but also his life was presented in the 90 minutes. Many visitors fought back tears, and after the concert, many congratulated Rusty to a unique performance in the church! With the help of Mr. Gerhard Kößlbacher (Restaurant Weinmesser in Mariapfarr www.weinmesser.at) and the pastor of Mariapfarr, Mr. Bernhard Rohrmoser, the cheque was handed over to Heide Janik, head of the children cancer’s charity, on 18.
